Tips for Braving the Winter Cold in Perthshire

This will probably come as a surprise to no-one but winter in Perthshire can get very chilly. Luckily, for those of you planning on visiting us at Kennacoil for Christmas or early next year, we’ve spent a few winters here and know the best ways for you to keep warm and cosy.

So, without further ado, here are our top tips for braving the winter cold in Perthshire.

Layer Up

This is definitely the best way of keeping warm in winter and instead of wearing one big jumper make sure to wear at least two or three layers. If you’re going to be out and about think about wearing an extra pair of socks and don’t forget to bring your hat and gloves!

Get Active

There’s no better way to get your body temperature up than keeping active and, thankfully, there’s so many activities for you to do here in Perthshire. We’ve got a number of nearby cycling routes to get your heart racing as well as hiking trails waiting for you to explore.

At Kennacoil we’ve got plenty of wide open spaces for you and the kids to run about in and, if you’ve ever felt like trying activities like rock-climbing or abseiling, you’ll be spoiled for choice with Perthshire being home to many different adventure centres.

Hot Drink

A good way to regulate your temperature is to have a warm drink so make sure you pack a flask when you come to Perthshire, so you can have a cup of tea or hot chocolate when you’re on the go.

Hot Shower

At Kennacoil we’ve made sure that you’ve got access to the best facilities, so on a cold winter evening you’ve got the option to jump into a hot shower or a nice relaxing bath to warm up.

Wood Burning Stove at Kennacoil

If you manage a visit to Kennacoil, you can explore the picturesque Perthshire countryside and curl up in front of a real wood-burning stove in our farm cottage.
