Summer events in Perthshire

There’s so much going on in Perthshire this summer, so if you are planning a break here, make sure you leave some room for an event or two. We made a list of some of Perthshire’s top summer events to help you out a bit. So, here they are:

Highland Games

Highland Games are spectacular annual events that take place between May and September. They are a way of celebrating Scottish culture and an excellent opportunity for visitors to Scotland to explore it. Even if you are Scottish, it’s certainly a thing you’d love to see!

You’ll be able to see sporting events that test speed and stamina, highland dancing, pipers and drummers playing and marching, solo piping competitions and clan celebrations where clan members compete collectively against other clans. All contestants must wear kilts and you’ll see a wide variety of tartans. Come to Perthshire this summer and see at least one of the Highland Games events!

Marie Curie Etape Caledonia

While in Perthshire this summer, you’ll also have the amazing opportunity to join the Marie Curie Etape Caledonia cycling challenge. Taking place May 21, it’s an 81-mile long closed road ride in Pitlochry, with over 5000 participants. The contest is suitable both for advanced bikers and for beginners. Not only will you get a sense of true achievement, but you’ll also be able to enjoy the stunning views of Loch Rannoch, Loch Tummel and the Scottish Highlands.

Family Fun Day, Perth Racecourse

There’s also an event in Perthshire this summer particularly designed for families – the Family Fun Day in Perth (July 16). Children can enjoy free activities at the Centre Course enclosure, such as pony racing, face painting and inflatables. Seize the opportunity to have a picnic and relax while your kids are enjoying the activities on offer. Then, the Grandstand enclosure will provide great experience for the racegoers, featuring 7 high-quality races, including the Perth Silver Cup.

Perth Kilt Run

The annual Perth Kilt Run is a fantastic activity you can join in Perthshire this summer. On August 12, 500 runners in kilts will take part, contributing to fundraising for some good causes. The trail is flat which makes the race suitable for people of all ages and levels. Furthermore, contestants can choose to walk or run. So, why don’t you just grab a kilt and join?
