Perthshire in 2016 will see a year filled with fun, interesting events and festivals, all ready for you to go and enjoy!
From small markets to big music festivals, immerse yourself in all that Perthshire has to offer. Let’s have a look at what’s going in 2016.
Returning for the twelfth year in Perth, the Amber Festival is a four-day event promising to showcase Scotland’s finest musical and a few international musicians too.
This year’s event takes place from November 3rd to 6th.
The inspiration for this festival came from the international singer/song writer Dougie MacLean who wanted a festival that represents the beautiful countryside that it is set in.
Hoping to inspire locals and visitors to engage in a deeper understanding of his musical inspiration, the Amber Festival was born.
A well-known Scottish event that is not to be missed. The Birnam Highland Games, just a stone’s throw from Kennacoil, is fun for the whole family showcasing some of Scotland’s best heavy sportsmen, highland dancing and piping competitions.
The Birnam games date back to 1864.
It’s reasonably priced at just £6 for adults and £4 for children. This year’s event takes place on Saturday, August 27th, with events starting at 11am.
Taking you back to the 80s, one of 2016’s biggest music events is set to take place at Scone Palace, Perth.
This year from the 22nd till the 24th of July, Perth will play host to some legends of the 80s including the likes of Adam Ant, ABC, Rick Astley, Tony Hadley and Toyah to mention just a few.
Don’t want to camp in a tent at the event? Stay in a Kennacoil glamping pod or rent one of the stunning cottages.
Perth Farmers’ Market takes place on the first Saturday of each month in King Edward Street and High Street.
Home to a wide range of stalls, you won’t become bored here! From fresh fish and shellfish all the way to homemade honey and chutneys, there is something for everyone.
There’s usually around 40-45 stalls, all full of locally-sourced produce, and every single one of them offering something interesting and delicious!
A challenging but fun ride of around 58km and mostly offroad, this event will crisscross its way through Dunkeld’s stunning landscape.
The exact route will remain a secret until nearer the time and no practice will be allowed, just to make it even more exciting!
The ride will include technical downhills, road racing and the chance to take part in a very special event, in a very special place.
