For 11 years thousands of people have flocked to Dunkeld for the Perthshire Amber Festival, featuring our most famous son Dougie MacLean, and this year will be no different.
Music will be performed across several Perthshire venues over the four-day period and there really is something for everyone.
Attracting a wide range of performers from all over the world, it’s the place to be if you have a love for folk and traditional music. If you're on the fence, you’ll fall in love with it within minutes. The sheer variety of talent is incredible. Here are a few performers to look out for:
Dougie MacLean – The man of the hour, although his shows always sell out so you’re lucky to get a ticket!
Gina MacLeod and Alan Jordan
One of the festival highlights will be the Dougie MacLean & Friends concert at Perth Concert Hall (featuring Julie Fowlis, Siobhan Wilson, Tim Edey, Cilla & Artie - The Singing Kettle, Ross Ainslie...plus more to come).
And many, many more. There really is something for everyone and it will be a weekend to remember.
Spread across several picture-perfect Perthshire venues, this festival as it all. Marquees, pub venues and even castles will play host to performances this year. Explore music and the beauty that beholds Perthshire in the autumn.

So where did it all begin? Dougie MacLean, internationally acclaimed singer-songwriter and composer, decided to start the festival back in 2005. It originally started as a three-day event but was extended to a whole 10 days in 2007.
By 2008 word of the festival had spread and was attracting people from all over the world, even performers from the USA, Canada and Australia travelled to be a part of the festival.
Since then the festival has grown in popularity due to its unique and traditional style.
This year the festival has been compressed into four days but that doesn’t mean you’re getting any less for your money. It means there’s just as much to enjoy but it’ll be a jam packed weekend of music, storytelling and culture, so be sure you get your tickets quick before you miss out.
The festival is running from the 3rd to the 6th of November. To get your tickets visit the Perthshire Amber website, but book now as they’re selling fast.
